02|職業安全衛生管理

本公司為推行工作安全,防止意外事故,改善工作環境,維護員工健康與承攬商、客戶之安全,自2010年開始,導入OHSAS 18001職業安全衛生管理系統,並於2020年完成ISO 45001新版職業安全衛生系統轉換作業。其適用範圍包括臺中營運總部、製造二廠及各協力廠商(承攬商),本公司也持續推動職業安全衛生法規的標準化管理及教育訓練,並制定安全作業規範,定期實施風險評估、稽核及確認其執行成效與持續改善情形。本公司職業安全衛生管理範圍包含所管轄之生產及非生產的場所、區域、設備及例行性、非例行性之作業活動,並針對進廠作業之廠外單位,包含膳食供應商、保全、設備維修商等,為其在本公司操作之活動提供管理與保護。

03|安全衛生委員會

本公司依據「職業安全衛生管理辦法」設置「安全衛生委員會」,其職責為擬定安全衛生政策、針對管理制度提出建議、審議與協調安全衛生相關事項等。「安全衛生委員會」由主席(總經理)、執行秘書(協理)、委員(部門主管/單位主管/勞安室人員/勞工代表)等,共計16人組成。其中勞工代表由員工遴選產生,共計6人,占委員會人數的38%。委員會每季定期召開會議一次,與管理階層共同研議、協調、規劃及決策職業安全衛生相關議題,落實員工參與、諮詢與溝通。

04|致力永續發展目標

面對「氣候緊急狀態」所帶來的氣候變遷挑戰,本公司持續推動永續發展,主要措施有:一、再生能源設置,擴建製造廠六樓,使用綠能環保的太陽能光電設施。二、能源效率提升,汰換老舊主機。三、交通載具減碳,鼓勵員工搭乘大眾運輸工具。四、綠色公益回饋社會,除原有的淨灘、淨山和員工教育宣導外,積極在臺東縣卑南鄉植樹造林,植林總面積廣達9公頃,共種植1.5萬株樹苗,抵銷二氧化碳排放量,以達「碳中和」之目標。本公司於2022年在頂樓設置太陽能發電設備,至2023年為止,太陽能共達到377,276KW的發電量。在重視企業ESG及永續扎根的基礎上,為臺灣和地球盡一份心力。

05|溫室氣體盤查計畫與外部保證

本公司持續進行ISO 14064-1溫室氣體盤查,並每年委託臺灣檢驗科技公司(SGS)進行第三方查驗,取得溫室氣體盤查聲明書,相關聲明書均已置於公司網頁。根據期程規劃,2023年首先針對臺中營運總部、製造二廠,以及越南子公司(越隆廠)進行盤查;2024年盤查範圍擴大至中國大陸子公司(嘉隆廠);2025年將納入中國大陸子公司(福隆廠),逐步實現本公司(含合併財務報告子公司)的溫室氣體盤查目標。

06|廢棄物處理

本公司製程廢棄物以混合五金廢料占多數,這些廢棄物都可再生利用。本公司在廢棄物管理上,採取製程減廢措施,對製程中產出之廢棄物除回收倉保存外,另行委外由專業廢棄清運公司予以分類處理,第三方合格清運公司皆設有GPS定位系統,無將廢棄物運往國外而違反巴賽爾協定之情形。

07|水資源管理

本公司營運所在地點位於臺中市南屯區,水資源風險為中低風險,主要取水來源為鯉魚潭水庫。本公司長期關注水資源的節約與環保議題,在節水計畫方面,從日常用水做起,全面實施節水措施。設有專責的廠務人員,負責能源及水資源的控管,每月向管理局報告用水情況,以改善製程中的耗水量,以實現水資源的最大效益。

08|多元平等共融

02|Occupational Health and Safety Management

UMEC promotes workplace safety, prevents accidents, improves working conditions, and maintains the health and safety of employees and contractors/customers. Since 2010, the company has implemented the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System and completed the transition to the ISO 45001 version in 2020. The applicable scope includes the Taichung operations headquarters, Manufacturing Plant 2, and various subcontractors. The company continues to identify occupational health and safety regulations at all operating locations, standardize management and training, and establish safety operating procedures. Regular risk assessments, audits, and evaluations of implementation effectiveness and continuous improvement are conducted to strengthen the operation of the occupational health and safety management system. The scope of the company's occupational health and safety management includes production and non-production areas, equipment, and routine and non-routine operational activities. It also manages and protects external units involved in operations, such as meal suppliers, security personnel, and equipment maintenance providers, regarding activities conducted within the company's facilities and equipment.

03|Safety and Health Committee

UMEC establishes a "Safety and Health Committee" in accordance with the "Occupational Health and Safety Management Regulations." Its responsibilities include formulating safety and health policies, making recommendations regarding management systems, and reviewing and coordinating matters related to safety and health. The "Safety and Health Committee" consists of 16 members, including the chairperson (General Manager), the executive secretary (Deputy Manager), and members (department heads/unit supervisors/occupational safety personnel/labor representatives). Among them, the labor representatives are elected by employees, totaling 6 individuals, which accounts for 38% of the committee's membership. The committee holds regular meetings once a quarter to jointly discuss, coordinate, plan, and make decisions on occupational health and safety-related issues, ensuring employee participation, consultation, and communication.

04|Devoted to sustainable development goals

In the face of the climate change challenges brought about by the "climate emergency", UMEC continues to promote sustainable development. The main measures include: 1. Renewable energy installation, expansion of the sixth floor of the manufacturing plan. 2.Improve energy efficiency and replace old host computers. 3.Reduce carbon emissions from transportation and encourage employees to take public transportation. 4.Give back to the society through green charity. In addition to the beach and mountain cleaning, employee education, we planted trees in Bei-Nan Township, Taitung County, with a total area of 9 hectares and 15,000 saplings planted. UMEC installed solar power energy equipment on the rooftop of Taichung manufacturing plant in 2022, and the total electrical energy reached 377,276KW by 2023.

05|Greenhouse Gas Inventory Plan and External Assurance

UMEC continued ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas inventory covering the Taiwan headquarters, manufacturing Plant 2, and the subsidiary in Vietnam (UMEC Vietnam Co., Ltd.). The annual third-party verification is conducted by SGS with a verification statement expected. According to the process plan, the inventory scope will expand to Vietnam and China subsidiary (JA-LONG, FU-LONG) by 2024 and 2025, gradually achieving comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory goals.

06|Waste Treatment

UMEC primarily generates mixed metal waste during operations, all of which is recyclable. The company employs waste reduction measures, storing waste in recovery warehouses and outsourcing sorting to professional waste management companies. These third-party firms utilize GPS tracking systems to ensure compliance with the Basel Convention by not transporting waste abroad.

07|Water Resource Management

UMEC located in the Nan-Tun District of Taichung City, Taiwan, where water resource risk is considered low to moderate. The main water source is the Li-Yu-Tan Reservoir. We pay close attention to water conservation and environmental issues, implementing water-saving measures and appointing dedicated staff to manage energy and water resources. Monthly reports on water usage are submitted to improve consumption efficiency, with a commitment to achieving maximum benefit from water resources.

08|Diversity, equity, and inclusion

UMEC provides a diverse and inclusive work environment, ensuring recruitment is free from gender bias and offering equal development opportunities for all employees. UMEC prioritizes hiring residents in Taiwan to strengthen relationships with the community and enhance job stability. All first-level managers in the company are 100 % locals, promoting local employment development and demonstrating commitment to the community. The company has always respected the rights of minority and disadvantaged groups and is committed to promoting workplace diversity and inclusion. The company hires a certain number of employees from these groups each year, ensuring fairness regardless of age or gender. UMEC adheres to internationally recognized labor human rights and the standards of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), as well as the labor laws of its operational locations and international human rights principles. We strictly observe the domestic and international labor and human rights regulations and treats all employees fairly. To uphold labor rights, we provide an effective and transparent complaint mechanism, ensuring that the complaint process is straightforward. UMEC is a “human oriented” family. The company see employees as their families and value the interaction with them. Since the establishment of the "Employee Welfare Committee" in 1994, the company has planned various welfare measures, including holiday and birthday vouchers, employee travel, wedding and funeral subsidies, designated stores, employee dormitories, meal allowances, discounts at designated medical institutions, regular health check-ups, emergency assistance for employees, and group insurance. Additionally, to inspire employee morale, the company encourages employees to form clubs. Currently, internal clubs include a basketball club, badminton club, and parent-child club, among others. Through annual events, employees can relax, cultivate interests, engage in recreational activities, and broaden their horizons outside of work.

09|Social Welfare

With a heart of gratitude and giving back to the society, UMEC hopes to "take from the society and give back to the society". We participate in various charity and social care activities such as the Rose Energizing Training Center, Volunteer service at the Tzu-Ai Intelligence Development Center. UMEC frequently support local culture and educational initiatives, assisting various organizations in promoting artistic and cultural activities. These include partnerships with organizations such as the TAIYUAN Cultural Foundation, Taichung Education Foundation, and Taichung City Symphony Orchestra, along with donations to United Way Taiwan and the Taichung Rotary Club, among other educational and welfare institutions. Based on innovative technology and excellent quality, our company is committed to fulfilling its corporate responsibility, caring for the society, benefiting the people and contributing to a better future.
